In 1997, Dr. Warren Dillon acted upon his hearts cry for Africa, by joining the mission field as the Director of "Providence World Missions Africa" (Marietta, GA/Uganda, East Africa). He went on to negotiate a partnership with the "International Mission Board (IMB)" for a short-term missionary placement and the rest is history.
From there, Dr. Dillon walked into his calling for missions as he partnered with organizations such as "Compassionate International" and "Food for the Hungry" to engage the youth of the villages as well as adopting villages to support in the Busuga District. It was during this time also that the “Buy A Goat Program” was implemented for orphans and widows in the villages of Nagalama and Kayango, Uganda. To help bring support to the region, Dr. Dillon coordinated a music concert featuring world renowned Inspirational Gospel Artist Babbie Mason in Kampala and Kayango.
After stumbling upon this newfound passion, R.O.M.I. (Reach One Mission International) was born.
In 1999, this organization was official registered as an NGO in Nairobi, Kenya. R.O.M.I. has since produced yearly evangelistic and medical trips to remote islands of Uganda, carrying over $250,000 USD in supplies to deprived individuals. Also in the village of Kayango, R.O.M.I. has built a church, and elementary school as well as dug fresh water wells.
One of the great accomplishments of R.O.M.I. in Uganda has been a farm developed in the heart of war-beaten Gulu Town. This farm and pond is bringing life and hope to a people who are forced to endure terror all around them. Producing such things as sunflower seeds, rice, Aloe Vera, sesame seeds, and passion fruit, the farm gives the people of Gulu Town nourishment as well as hope through business opportunities and ventures.
Dr. Warren Dillon alongside his late wife Velma and youngest daughter Shaina, later went over to stay over one year in Nairobi, Kenya where they oversaw the completion of the most prized accomplishment of R.O.M.I., Saint Margaret All-Girl Secondary School. The school is located in Homa Bay, Kenya where currently 100 young ladies are housed and educated in a modern facility of classrooms, laboratories, student dormitories, cafeteria, and staff houses.
During his stay in Kenya, Dr. Dillon worked with the Masai Tribe in implementing a Food Program for their villages as well as providing leadership training, educational skills, and business planning for the Kibera Shims (a slum of Nairobi).
Dr. Dillon also worked closely with World Harvest International Church, Apostle Martin Ssuna where he attended during his tenure in the country.
Even in the face of danger, Dr. Dillon has pressed forward to answer the call of God…
"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost"
-Matthew 28:19
He has trekked into Rwanda to help support one hundred-fifty orphans while the stench of death still filled the air after the horrific genocide of 1994 as the people in desperation of aid continued to cry out. Dr. Dillon also dared to voyage on a fact finding journey to plant a church in the Congo during the heat of their Civil War! Dillon has even partnered and traveled with Pioneer Outreach Mission Group (Al Heflin, Evangelistic Missionary) where he physically aided in helping to build a church and a medical facility in Peru, South America. Here, he also had the opportunity to preach the Word of God along the Amazon River where the miraculous took place; life’s were healed, captives were set free, and the dead was raised back to life by the Spirit of the Living God.
